Red Earth, White Lies: Native Americans and the Myth of Scientific Fact

‘Red Earth, White lies’, published in 1995, gives a Native American perspective on Science as generally received, that is, the origins of mankind, evolution theory, and the so-called worthlessness of ‘myth’ in shedding light on our common traumatic past.

The question is, how relevant are these teachings? When one considers how so much of what is still accepted as ‘fact’ serves to manipulate public thinking, suppressing alternatives to current ‘politically correct’ ideology, and how some academics are prepared to ‘revise’ history for some narrow, transient benefit, such a book is exceedingly relevant.
Considering the history of repression endured by minorities generally, and Native Americans in particular, it is high time we listened to their voice. For a historical perspective, read Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West , for a current one, read this book.
